Canon has added HD video to the PowerShot G12 and given the SX30 one of the biggest optical zoom ranges in the biz — 35x.

The PowerShot G12 is the latest iteration of the model that found a place in many enthusiasts’ hands as the take-everywhere camera. It was smaller than an SLR but had good performance and image quality.

The G12 is the first “G” model to have HD video (720p). It also has a new HS System that Canon says improves image quality in low light. It also has an in-camera HDR mode.

The PowerShot SX30 IS has an amazing 35X image stabilized optical zoom lens. The lens starts at an impressive 24mm and zooms out to 840mm. It also will shoot 720p HD video.
