As part of its 2009-10 season, The Alberta Ballet has announced an exciting new collaboration with Canadian music icon Sarah McLachlan. To coincide with the world premier of this new work, The Alberta Society of Artists is proposing an exhibition of work based on or inspired by the music and lyrics of Sarah McLaughlan. The exhibition would build on the ASA’s previous collaborations with the Alberta Ballet on developing themed exhibitions to coincide with the premier of new dance productions.
Building a Mystery, a juried exhibition about Sarah McLachlan at the Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium, is open to ASA Full, Life and Supporting Members. The deadline for all submissions is January 15, 2011.
The work would be installed in the lower foyer gallery in the Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium in an exhibition slot to coincide with the May 13 – 14 2010 performance by Alberta Ballet. Pending further negotiations the show could also travel to the Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium in the fall of 2011 to coincide with the opening of the 2011/12 Alberta Ballet and Calgary Opera seasons.
