Samsung NX Lens 2011 Roadmap

Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. has announced five new lenses for its NX branded Compact System Camera line. These include 18-200 mm f/3.5-6.3 and 16-80 mm f/3.5-4.5 zooms, a 16 mm f/2.4 pancake lens, a 60 mm f/2.8 macro and an 85 mm f1.4 portrait lens.

All of the new lenses except the 16 mm pancake will have silent autofocus (important when shooting video, because AF noise can be picked up by the camera microphones). The two zoom lenses and the 60 mm macro are also image stabilized.

The 18-200 zoom will be available in May; the pancake and macro are scheduled for the summer; the 85 mm portrait lens for the fall and the 16-80 mm zoom will be coming towards year’s end.

Samsung’s NX line currently consists of two bodies, the NX10 and NX100, which both use 14.6 megapixel APS-C size sensors. The NX line already has five lenses, so the announcements bring the lens count to 10 for this platform.
