If you like your prints big, check out Canon Canada Inc.’s imagePROGRAF iPF8300S. This is a 44-inch, eight-colour printer that uses Canon’s LUCIA EX ink set. Canon says the new ink set reproduces a colour gamut that’s approximately 20 percent better than previous S-series models.
Canon says the LUCIA EX ink set gives greater shadow details, deeper black density and overall scratch resistance. This ink system uses a high-density PF-05 print head with 2,560 nozzles for each colour. The eight inks are cyan, magenta, yellow, black, matte black, photo cyan, photo magenta and grey. The imagePROGRAF iPF8300S has a built-in colour calibration function and comes with a 160GB hard drive.
The printer offers Fast and Economy print modes, which can be twice as fast or use half a much ink compared to the existing eight-colour printers. Canon says the iPF8300S can produce a B0-sized (39.37” x 55.67”) output in approximately 80 seconds.
The printer comes with a print Plug-In for Adobe Photoshop that supports 16-bit Adobe RGB images, and a Digital Photo Professional plug in that allows direct printing of RAW images
The imagePROGRAF iPF8300S has a MSRP of $6,295 and should be available this month.
