Video specialists that use Canon gear will be happy to know that Canon has given 3D functionality to its Canon XF305 and XF300 professional camcorders through a firmware upgrade. The firmware adds what Canon calls a 3D Assist Function, which helps the videographer set up two XF300-series camcorders to capture 3D HD video.
The new firmware includes a number of utilities to help set up two separate camcorders so that they record as a single 3D system. These include lens and zoom alignment functions. The firmware also includes enhancements to the Scan Reverse function that helps set up dual cameras by allowing images to be flipped horizontally or vertically.
Canon’s XF300-series are pro-oriented camcorders with suggested retail prices of $8499.99 (XF305) and $7349.99 (XF300).
