The Shenkman Arts Centre presents Muslims?!, an exhibition of photography by Asif Rehman, until July 26th. In his work, Rehman has photographed Canadian Muslims engaged in the ordinary and not so ordinary activities that are part of their daily lives. His exhibition illustrates that any label can only at best define a small part of a person’s identity, and seeks to break down stereotypes held by both Muslims and non-Muslims about what it means to be a Canadian Muslim. “I feel that by communicating the diversity and varied passions of Muslim individuals, we can learn how much we all have in common and can break down the barriers of misunderstanding and ignorance that can separate us”, Rehman says.
