Through April 28, Toronto’s Stephen Bulger Gallery is presenting Benoit Aquin’s Haïti, which documents the events after the earthquake on January 12, 2010. Aquin went to Haiti immediately after the earthquake as a volunteer with the Centre for International Studies and Cooperation and returned again four months later. Aquin’s documentary style gives attention to beauty, detail and composition. The images in Haïti all have a blue-grey tone, which Aquin achieved by taking the photos at dusk. This is the Stephen Bulger Gallery’s second solo exhibition by Benoit Aquin.
