In 2011 Ghanaian-Canadian photographer George Qua-Enoo visited his home country of Ghana for the first time in about 10 years. During his stay, he visited places he had never seen while growing up there, including the town of Nzulezo.
Established 500 years ago, this lake town has a population of around 600 people. While visiting, Qua-Enoo was moved to discover that the town’s elementary school had only two crowded classrooms. He decided to hold a fund-raising exhibition and concert with the goal of helping the school expand so that the children may have enough space to thrive and learn.
The Nzule exhibition and concert will be October 26 and 27 at Qua-Enoo’s studio in Hamilton, Ontario (270 Sherman Ave N). Tickets are $10. More information can be found here.
