Cameras4Change is an organization that approaches visual media and storytelling as a catalyst for change in the world. Their mission centres around “Article 13 of the UN Convention of the Rights of the Child (UNCRC): Right to freedom of expression is at the heart of our mission. This right shall include freedom to seek, receive and impart information and ideas of all kinds, regardless of frontiers, either orally, in writing or in print, in the form of art, or through any other media of the child’s choice.” Cameras4Change’s photo-based programs and workshops use the arts to address human rights issues like water and sanitation, HIV/AIDS, gender equality and education.
Cameras4Change has their second annual fundraising initiative coming up on Saturday, November 30, in Vancouver at the Fluevog Gastown store and on Thursday, December 5, at the Fluevog Calgary store. At these events, 50% of your purchase will go to Cameras4Change.
The organization is working on raising money for an exciting project to make a documentary, Weta Pichu (Our Picture). for more information or to donate, please visit the Weta Pichu website.
