The 2015 Banff Mountain Photo Essay Competition is accepting entries of photo essays through April 30. Each submitted photo essay should contain between two to five images that tell a mountain story related to culture, wildlife, sport, environment, or natural history. The photo sequence should express a message or tell a story, but each individual image of the sequence should also be strong enough to stand on its own. Finalists will be chosen by a jury, and the public will vote for the winner. The winner will be awarded $3000 and have an exhibition during the Banff Mountain Film and Book Festival from October 31 through November 8.
Last year’s winner, Chris Burkard, submitted Arctic Surfing, a series of images from his 2012 trip to northern Norway to surf in the Arctic. For more information about this year’s contest and submission guidelines, please visit the Banff Mountain Photo Essay competition website.
