Throughout the month of April, the third annual Spark Photo Festival is celebrating photography throughout the Northumberland, Peterborough, and Kawartha Lakes regions of Ontario. This year, the festival will feature 50 free exhibitions in 50 different venues. The showcase exhibit of heritage photography will be Lucy Maud Montgomery: A Life in Pictures. This exhibition will present 90 images taken by the celebrated Canadian author Lucy Maud Montgomery, arranged as a loose chronology of her life (1874-1942). Montgomery was a photo enthusiast who used her first paycheck as a teacher to purchase a camera in the early 1890s. A Life in Pictures will be the first comprehensive, public exhibition of her photographic work.
