Presented by TD Bank, Capture Photography Festival is celebrating photography and lens-based art with events across Vancouver, Richmond, Burnaby and the North Shore through April 29. In its second year, this annual photo festival will feature more than 100 exhibitions; artist panels; public art installations; and special events like technical workshops, artist talks, film screenings, a series of speakers and even a tailgate party!
The feature exhibition, Images That Speak, is on view through May 16 at the Satellite Gallery and features the work of eleven artists, including British artist, Steve McQueen. The City Before the City is a public art project showcasing photographs in eight Canada Line Stations as an effort to integrate art into the daily lives of commuters. There will be a guided tour with the curator on April 26. Jointly commissioned with the Burrard Arts Foundation, Jessica Eaton’s site-specific installation on the facade of the BC Hydro Dal Grauer Substation will combine her photographic work exploring the way analogue cameras create images with this modernist building.
