To Resolve or Not to Resolve

by Photo Life

So it’s 2016, and we’ve got a blank slate of a year before us. The end of a year always makes me get reflective and evaluate my life. I’m a bit sentimental that way. I consider the things I had hoped to accomplish that year—and sometimes, like this year, I squeeze in one last thing on my list (a painting I wanted to do in 2015)—and I dream about the upcoming year. I used to do this in my journal, but the last few years, I’ve been keeping lists digitally. I like using the turn of a year as a chance to intentionally think about my dreams and goals (both big and small) and make sure they don’t get swept aside by the more pressing demands of daily life.

Are you the type to make resolutions? Did you make any for 2016? Did you make some photo-specific goals for the year? What about last year? How did those go? Have you ever done any year-long projects like a 365 photo journal or 52-week project? Or have you tried a year where you zone in on a particular subject, technique or style? Let us know what you’re going to be up to this year in the comments and share your ideas! Maybe we can inspire each other and spur each other on to new creative adventures in 2016?
