Through May 31, Jill Greenberg’s photo exhibition Paintings is on view at Bau-Xi Photo in Toronto as a featured exhibit in the Scotiabank CONTACT Photography Festival. In this new series, the artist creates paintings, which she then photographs as they are drying. Her images explore how light interacts with the surface of the paint, highlighting the colour, texture and brushstrokes by cropping and enlarging portions of the paintings. After making the images, Greenberg then destroys the original paintings; the vivid photographs are the culmination of her artistic process.
