Through August 21, the Ryerson Image Centre in Toronto is presenting a survey of work by 2015 Scotiabank Photography Award winner Angela Grauerholz. Co-curated by Paul Roth and Gaëlle Morel, the exhibition includes more than 70 images taken by the artist from the 1980s to today. In her work, Grauerholz explores cultural memory and the various architectural and presentational approaches of archives, libraries and museums. The artist’s documentation of subjects creates an alternative archive that questions the reliability of memory and the authority of traditional archives.
