During the entire month of October, Photopolis: The Halifax Festival of Photography will celebrate photography through exhibitions, artist talks, workshops and more! This year the festival will present 40 exhibitions and more than 35 events across the city.

From August 3 to 26, ViewPoint Gallery in Halifax is presenting Evanescent, a solo show by Lynn Ellis. Ellis’ images use landscape photography to explore ideas of temporality and beauty. The opening reception is August 4 from 4 to 6 p.m., and the Artist Talk is August 14 at 2 p.m.

Paul Haresign Williams’ On Reflection is being presented at ViewPoint Gallery in Halifax from July 7 through 31. This series explores the ephemeral nature of reflections and the views they offer us.

Allan Neilsen’s solo show Dancer/Dance: Making Sense of Pictures is being present at ViewPoint Gallery in Halifax from May 4 through 29. This exhibition examines the relationship between word and image in the interpretive process.

Edwin Janzen’s Remotes is being presented at ViewPoint Gallery in Halifax from April 7 through May 1. This series decontextualizes remotes; Janzen scanned them with a hi-res scanner and then cropped the images into small squares, which were enlarged and printed.
